Cheap website design, without the catch

“Cheap” usually means something got left out. Here's exactly what gets left out at each price in Singapore, what we leave out at SGD 300, and how to tell the difference before you pay.

The honest bit

Something is always cut. The question is what.

Nobody builds a website cheaply by working for less. They build it cheaply by removing something — and the thing removed is what determines whether you got a bargain or a problem. There are only four things anyone can cut.

1. Custom design

The most common cut. A template is configured rather than designed, so your site looks like the several thousand other businesses using it. Cheapest to produce, and the reason many budget sites feel interchangeable.

2. Scope

Fewer pages. This is the honest cut — and the one we make. One well-built page instead of eight thin ones costs less to build and, for most service businesses, works better.

3. Your time

DIY builders are cheap in dollars and expensive in weekends. If your hourly rate is worth anything, a S$200 subscription plus three weekends is not the cheap option.

4. What happens next

The most damaging cut, because you don't see it until month four. No support, no updates, or a small text change quoted at S$150. Always ask this before paying.

We cut scope. One page, designed properly, supported for 30 days. We don't cut the design, and we don't cut what happens after launch.

The comparison you're making

“But that one is S$499 for unlimited pages.”

It's a fair question, and the honest answer is that unlimited template pages and one custom page are different products. More pages is not more website — it is more to write, more to maintain, and more places for a visitor to lose the thread.

If you genuinely need eight pages — a product catalogue, separate service pages for SEO, a blog — the unlimited package may well be better value than ours. We'd rather tell you that than sell you the wrong thing. Message us and we'll say which way to go.

Before you pay anyone

Five questions that expose a bad deal.

  1. “Can I see three live sites you built?” Live URLs, not mockups. Open them on your phone. If they're slow or they all look the same, you have your answer.
  2. “Who owns the domain and hosting?” It must be in your name. If your designer owns it, moving away later means rebuilding from scratch.
  3. “What does a text change cost in month four?” The number, in writing, before you pay.
  4. “Is the copy included?” “Client to provide content” is the single most common reason cheap websites never launch.
  5. “What's the total for year one and year two?” Design, domain, hosting, maintenance. A cheap build with S$200/month maintenance is not cheap.

Ask us the same five. Our answers: three live sites on the homepage; the domain and hosting are yours; small changes are free for 30 days then quoted honestly; we polish your copy; and year two costs you nothing from us beyond domain and hosting.

Questions

Cheap web design questions.

How much is a cheap website in Singapore?

Cheap website design in Singapore generally runs S$300 to S$1,500. Below that you are into DIY builder subscriptions at roughly S$150–500 a year, where you do the building. Our custom one-page site is SGD 300 one-time, which is at the bottom of the done-for-you range.

Is cheap website design any good?

It can be, provided you know what was cut to reach the price. Cheap through reduced scope — one strong page instead of eight weak ones — is good value. Cheap through an unmodified template, no copywriting or no post-launch support usually costs more in the long run. Ask to see live examples and get the month-four support cost in writing.

Why is your website only S$300 when others charge S$1,000+?

Because we build one page, not eight, and we have a repeatable process for doing it in a day. We are not cutting the design or the support — we are cutting scope. If your business genuinely needs eight pages, we will tell you, and we will quote for that separately.

Is S$499 for unlimited pages better value than S$300 for one page?

Only if you actually need those pages and will keep them current. Unlimited template pages and one custom page are different products: more pages means more content to write and maintain, and a template design means you look like every other business using it. If you need a catalogue, separate service pages or a blog, the multi-page package may suit you better — we would rather say so than sell you the wrong thing.

Are there hidden costs?

Not from us. The SGD 300 is one-time and covers the design and build of one page, including on-page SEO and 30 days of support. You will separately need a domain (roughly S$20–60 a year) and hosting (S$5–30 a month), both registered in your own name, and both from providers you choose.

Do I have to pay monthly?

No. There is no subscription to us. Your only recurring costs are the domain and hosting, which you own and pay directly. That is the main practical difference from a DIY builder, where the site stops existing if you stop paying.

Can you make my website cheaper than S$300?

No — SGD 300 is already the floor for a custom-designed page built and launched by a person in one business day. Anything cheaper on the market is either a template you configure yourself or a subscription. We would rather be honest about that than cut corners we would have to hide.

What if I need changes after the site is live?

Small text and content changes are covered for 30 days after launch. After that we quote honestly — usually a small fixed fee for minor edits. You are never locked in: the site and the accounts are yours.
