First visit and puppy intro

A good first groom sets up a lifetime of easy ones. Puppy intros are short, unhurried and mostly about treats, so your pup learns that the table, the dryer and the clippers are nothing to worry about.

$35 · about 30 minutes · under 6 months
  1. Meet and sniff. Your puppy explores the salon (or van) with you nearby.
  2. Short bath and towel dry. Then a few seconds of the dryer on its lowest setting.
  3. Nail trim and face tidy. We stop and try again later if it is too much today.
  4. Report card. What went well and what to practise at home before the next visit.

New to us with an older dog? Your first full groom includes a 10-minute chat at drop-off about coat, health and handling, at no extra cost.

Vaccinations, handling and booking

Short and simple, so every dog in the salon stays safe and every owner knows what to expect.

Vaccinations

  • Rabies (where required by law) and DHPP (distemper combo) must be up to date.
  • Bordetella (kennel cough) is recommended for salon visits.
  • Ask your vet to email the record, or show it at your first visit.
  • Puppies can come for an intro once their first round of shots is done.

How we handle your dog

  • One dog on the table at a time. No cage dryers, ever.
  • We never sedate. If a dog is truly stressed, we stop and call you.
  • Seniors and nervous dogs get shorter sessions and extra breaks.
  • Anything unusual (lumps, sore ears, fleas) is noted for you and your vet.

Booking and changes

  • New clients pay a $20 deposit when booking. It comes off the groom price.
  • Need to move or cancel? Give us 24 hours and the deposit carries over.
  • Missed appointments without notice keep the deposit.
  • Running late? Text us. We hold your slot for 15 minutes.

Questions owners ask

How often should my dog be groomed?

Most curly, doodle and long-coated dogs do best every 4 to 6 weeks. Short-coated dogs usually need a bath and de-shed every 8 to 12 weeks. We will suggest a rhythm after the first visit.

Can you groom nervous, reactive or senior dogs?

Yes, often in the van, where it is quiet and there are no other dogs. We book them longer slots, take breaks, and will stop and call you rather than push a dog that is not coping.

What if my dog's coat is matted?

Light tangles are part of the brush-out. Heavier matting is charged at $1 per minute, and if it would take more than 15 minutes we call you first. Sometimes a short clip is kinder, and the coat grows back.

What do I need for a van visit?

Just a parking spot near your door. The van has its own water, heating and power. Please walk your dog before we arrive.

How long will my dog be with you?

About 1 to 1.5 hours for a bath and brush, and 2 to 3 hours for a full groom in the salon. We text you 20 minutes before your dog is ready.

How do deposits and cancellations work?

New clients pay a $20 deposit that comes off the price of the groom. Give us 24 hours' notice to move or cancel and it carries over. Missed appointments without notice keep the deposit.
